		"text": "<p>Named after the famed river here on Earth, Ganges Chasma is a deep canyon at the eastern end of the vast Valles Marineris system. It may have formed through a series of catastrophic discharges of water and carbon dioxide from chaos terrains such as those  preserved in Ganges Chaos at its southern margin. Our interest with this observation is the bright terrain observed in nighttime infrared by the THEMIS instrument, onboard Mars Odyssey.<br /></p>"
