This crater is near a ridgeline, which is defined as “a line formed along the highest points of a mountain ridge,” so it’s probably not groundwater-fed, but overspilled to form an outlet channel.

These are called “pollywog craters,” and they often suggest a brief precipitation fed runoff event because more prolonged precipitation would overflow large craters as well, which is not observed with this image. Pollywogs are often dubbed “tadpole craters” because of their familiar shape. This crater is located right outside the southern edge of the larger Vinogradov Crater.
